Talbot Grimes, A.K.A The Blight was released on September 8th, 2020 in Chapter XVII: Descend Beyond alongside Felix Richter. Ever since his release, The Blight was considered to be one of the most difficult characters ever introduced to Dead By Daylight. He remains a high-tier pick to this very day. Continue reading to find out the best DBD Blight build.
The Blight's unique power requires a hefty toll to be paid before it can benefit you in any meaningful way. I'm talking about map knowledge that goes way beyond what you would call “casual knowledge”. But upon mastery, The Blight can easily terrorize even the most seasoned Survivors. Not to mention, that he is extremely fun to play.

Step 1: Learn About Dead By Daylight's The Blight
The first step naturally is to understand the Killer before you even attempt to play him/her. At the core of the Blight's strength is his ability, Blighted Corruption. His power allows you to rush forward at breakneck speed for a short distance. You have exactly 5 charges of this dash. You can extend his “Rush” by slamming into obstacles. Upon running into a wall, obstacle, tree, or what have you, you stop in place. Then you can turn in any direction, and use the power again to consume a token and continue your rush.
The Rush aspect of Blighted Corruption has so many moving parts. It is easily one of the most complicated powers in the game when you break it all down. So let us go from top to bottom. During the first Rush, The Blight cannot attack. Only after running into an obstacle and initiating another Rush, called Lethal Rush, is he able to Rush and attack. A very important thing to note is that The Blight turns extremely slowly in the middle of a Rush. But! There is still more. The Blight can only Slam into objects when the angle of slamming into an object is greater than 45 ? (degrees).
In layman's terms. You need to run almost straight into something, otherwise, you will slide alongside it. Mastering this very gimmicky aspect of his power can bear fruit to some advanced movement strategies. Because when you know which objects you can “slide” along, then you can use them to steer yourself better. And then catch Survivors by surprise.
So, what makes The Blight so gosh darn hard to learn? To answer this question let us look at a common situation you will run into as Blight. Survivors know what this character is capable of, so they will take countermeasures at every step. At first, like with any chase in the game, they will drag you to one of the many obstacle tiles of the map, just like the one down below.
Let's imagine you start at the bottom of this loop. There is a window to the right of the green and red barrels. If the Survivors hops through it, and you know they will. You can either run after them like any normal Killer. Or you can opt to use your power. The best place to slam against in the picture is the lonely green barrel in the top left. But the model of the barrel is not a flat surface, it is round. If you do not run completely flat against it, you will “slide” alongside it and end up in a position that ruins your attack.
But even if you succeed in slamming against it. A second or two have passed. The Survivor you were chasing is now either behind the wall on the right or crouching behind the barrel that is on fire. If he tried going back through the window you would be able to hit him easily. But behind that barrel or the wall? Well, it is possible. If you hold attack at the end of Lethal Rush your “rush combo” ends. This means that for seconds before the attack your turn radius goes back to normal. And you cannot slam into anything. So you could wrap the attack behind the barrel or the wall. If you are good enough.
This is what makes The Blight so damn difficult. You need to know all the tiles, maps, and how to deal with each little obstacle. You can pick this all up as you go. But except to perform horribly while learning this Killer. Even if your DBD Blight Build is the finest it can be.
Step 2: Improve Your DBD Blight Build With Best Perks And Add-Ons Aviable!
Best Perks For Dead By Daylight's Blight
The first group is going to be information gathering perks. Per usual information is the most valuable thing when playing a “Chaser” type killer. With your Blighted Corruption power and information provided via these perks you should have downs and hooks rolling in, in no time flat. Just remember! Do not stack too many information perks! Pick 1 or 2 at most!
The best information gathering perks for any DBD Blight build are:
The next category is slowdown perks. Again, per usual. You do not want the Survivors to hammer out 2 or 3 generators before you end your first chase of the game. And to help you with that, you need perks to slow down the game as much as possible. In order to have a well-rounded DBD Blight build, you need some of those for sure.
Without further ado, here are the best slowdown perks for The Blight:
And now we finally move to add-ons for Blighted Corruption. Blight's add-ons did not change much since he was released, which is quite surprising. Avoid anything that takes away your Rush turn radius or movement speed. Iridescent Blight Tag must be avoided by anyone learning this Killer, as it is a very advanced tool. Other than that? Go nuts.
Here are the best add-ons to consider when making a great DBD Blight build:
Step 3: Start Playing!
As always, the most important step is to play, play and then keep playing. The Blight will take away tens of hours of your gameplay time before you start being any good. And then even hundreds if you want to truly become one of the great Blights out there. No matter how good your DBD Blight build actually is. Nothing will substitute true and tested first-hand experience.
Remember to utilize your Rush as much as possible, as it comes back very fast. Always pay mind to what you can Slam into from which position in the current loop. At some point, it will become muscle memory, but at first, you really need to pay attention.
Be wary of any in-door map. They can be overcome and mastered. But it takes so much effort and time to become good at playing Blight on Léry's Memorial Institute for example. Just take it slow, and keep your wits about you.
With this DBD Blight build, you should become a top-tier Blight in no time!
